Brinkman & Associates was formed in June 1998 by Karen Riestenberg Brinkman, an attorney who has been practicing solely in family law since 1986. In 2001, she was joined by Kristie A. Karl, a family law attorney who is licensed to practice in Ohio and Kentucky. Our lawyers are ably assisted by paralegal Tamara G. Wesley-Crossland, who has been supporting the work of attorneys for nearly 25 years.

At the initial consultation, we will ask you to explain your situation and the outcome you desire. Then we will educate you about the laws that affect your situation. In a divorce case, for example, we will describe the difference between a divorce and a dissolution, explain the grounds for divorce, and discuss the issues involved in parenting, child support, spousal support and property division.

Settlement-Oriented, Courtroom Ready
In most cases, we first work toward a reasonable out-of-court settlement of issues in order to avoid the expense of a trial. However, we understand that not every issue can be settled this way. In these cases and in those where an emergency exists or their is a risk of harm to a person or property, you can rely on our skills as experienced courtroom litigators.
